Super Seventies

Fashion is always taking trends from the past and updating them with a modern twist. I am sure you have all seen the high-waisted super flared jeans that have made a come back from the 70's, but have you seen ME wearing them? Don't get me wrong, I still love my skinny jeans, but I decided to mix it up and try out this new(ish) trend and it was surprisingly liberating! With a higher rise, ample leg room, and enough detailing to hide your Fupa (if you have to ask, you don't want to know), these must be the most comfortable jeans ever! Go on, try them out!

leather on leather

I played around with this leather-on-leather-(on-leather?) look on a sunny day...not the best idea I've ever had but I love the look so it'll be a good one to remember come the fall. This little gray vest is my new favorite (I've already been called-out for wearing it so often) and I layered it over another gray leather jacket. I love the two tone effect it created. The overall look is tough-girl with the zippered waxy jeans, ankle booties, and graphic T-shirt.

toy soldier

Between the primary colors and the structured nature of the jacket it was inevitable that I would end up marching at some point. I felt like the Nutcracker Prince, minus ballet shoes and sub animal print wedges, and it just so happened that my nail polish matched perfectly. The red Current/Elliott jeans were a recent score at Barney's AND on sale. Oh the sweet satisfaction!!

How high is your top-knot?

This Y-3 sweater with kimono-like sleeves always steals the show. I love how the Japanese designer uses simplistic color schemes that leave the focus on the cut of the garment, check out the futuristic style on the website here. Paired with a top-knot the overall look definitely gave off an Asian vibe. What do you think?

matchy matchy

Don't forget to tuck in your FUPA

I am a firm believer in punching up your outfit with bright accessories, and as you can see in the above photos I got a little carried away with the yellow suede. Is it fashion faux pas to match your shoes and bag? Who cares!

gold accents

I was feeling a little gold crazy the other day and this is what ended up coming together quite effortlessly. This perfectly asymmetrical knit with gold sequin elbow patches was a recent score from the LF Sale in La Jolla, and it also just happens to fall beautifully off the shoulder. I paired it with an oversized gold clutch, and if you look closely, even the shoes have gold studs along the top of the platform. I topped it all off with gold polish on my fingers. Voila!

plain and simple

Jeans and a T-shirt are an easy go-to look for me. With the right accessories you can make the look work in a million different ways so today I went with a leather vest and cuffed the jeans to show off these killer heels. With the intricate chain detailing they are the perfect mix of feminine and bad ass, don't you think?

Accessory spotlight: Marni for H&M

While perusing H&M the other day I remembered that the Marni collaboration had literally just debuted the day before. Even so, I was too late and there were very few items left to choose from. I was able to scoop up these earrings from the collection, they got my attention as they reminded me of little dragonflies dangling in the box. A score at $20.

I wish I had the sense to go shop the collection sooner, I would kill for one of the sequin collars!

monochromatic layering

I was in a blue mood today, sartorially speaking. The prepster inside me paired the pastel blue button-up and cobalt sweater with clean white skinnies, so I toughened up the look with a denim over shirt and studded bag. I really like the overall effect, very menswear inspired. Then again, how many dresses have you seen me wear? (...crickets...)

Fluo Pants

G-rated mannequin

I'll start by stating the obvious... it has been a while. I'm back with some shocking neon blue cropped skinny pants that deserved the spotlight, so I let them take center stage and accented them with neutral everything. Quintessential Danimalstyle pairing the fluorescent bottoms with a silk top, sandals, and fun accessories. They also came in neon pink, yellow, and green... How would you style them?
