December Nights
Balboa Park is lit up every year for December Nights, a holiday festival that attracts more than 300,000 visitors. On Dec. 3-4 the park opens its doors to the public, literally, as entry to the seven museums is free from 5-9pm. Carolers and stage performers along the Prado rallied the Christmas cheer from onlookers, and the hardest part about being there was smelling the sweet aroma of funnel cake wafting through the cool air.
If that doesn't get you into the holiday spirit you can go by the Old Globe Theatre and pick up tickets to "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!". During December Nights the park set up a Who-Ville Christmas Tree, complete with the REAL Grinch (well, the actor that portrays him).
Who could pass up the opportunity to sit on the Grinch's lap for a photo? Not me :)
